Dearest Patients and Families,
We are in unprecedented times. With the ongoing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the incredible speed at which things are changing around us, we want to ensure you that caring for our patients and their safety continues to be our top priority. We are in daily contact with CDA/CDC as well our state and local health agencies to determine and adapt our office policies and procedures so as to take every precaution to make sure that we are at the forefront in fighting this pandemic.
Governor Newsom and the California Dental Association have given us the green light to re-open our Orthodontic office for treatment of patients. Our re-open date will be May 18, 2020. Our staff will be calling you to schedule appointments by risk nature, meaning the low risk patient appointments will be scheduled first such as new patient exams, arch wire changes, arch wire adjustments, taking records like photos, x-rays and impressions. After this the moderate risk patient will be scheduled, meaning procedures like bonding of brackets, cementing appliances, rebonding (re-gluing) loose brackets or appliances. Lastly, the high risk procedures like debanding of brackets (removing of braces), enameloplasty, removing or replacing attachments for Invisalign will be most likely scheduled after middle of June, 2020.
We have taken the safety of every patient and all our staff to the most highest level as possible and we have increased protection of all by adding plexiglass sneeze guards, wearing surgical gowns, face shields and N95 masks. We have bought a special high suction machine for debands that suctions most of the aerosol that the high speed drill emits. Also, we have added three additional air purifier machines with HEPA filters in the office to keep the inside environment as sterile as possible. We have decided to remove all magazines, videogames, self-serve water bottles, halted brushing in the brushing area and if possible limited use of our restrooms for the safety of all and to avoid cross contamination. Brush and floss at home before your appointment. Wash your hands and use the restroom prior to your appointment. OUR RESTROOMS ARE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE!
When you come to our office it is deemed mandatory that you wear a face mask before and after the appointment even if you are accompanying a minor. We want patients to go in with the mask on and only take the mask off when they are going to be treated. If you are sick and have been around anyone (co-workers, family etc.) who are sick or have traveled in the last 14 days, please reschedule your appointment. You will have to sign a Covid19 disclosure consent form prior to your appointment. In our office, we will follow the 6 feet social distancing rule. Once you walk-in for your appointment, our front desk will do a temperature check, ask few questions and direct you to the orthodontic chair. We ask only patients attend their appointments. When accompanying a minor (unless new patient exam), the parent should wait outside or in their car, and we will bring your son/daughter to the car once we are done with the procedure. You can call us on your cellphone to schedule an appointment after your appointment.
We remain available for true emergency situations such as pain, loose appliances or poking wires. If you have an orthodontic emergency, please page our office (619) 294-1646. This number is a pager. The number does not receive texts or calls. Please, dial that number and it will instruct you to dial your area code and phone number followed by the # sign. We will call you back ASAP.
We miss our patients, and cannot wait to return to work on May 18th. We apologize for the inconvenience regarding these changes, but we care about the safety of you and your family. Thank you for your trust in us.
